Jason studied finance and enjoyed a successful 10-year career with Vanguard. Although he had built a rewarding professional career, he had always been passionate about traveling and experiencing different parts of the world. After living in multiple countries, Jason considered leaving finance to pursue international service. However, the prospect of relocating every two years did not provide the stability he wanted. Instead, he chose to pursue another passion that offered both purpose and adventure: becoming a pilot.
Christian followed a remarkably similar path. With a background in finance, he established a successful career with Honeywell in its aerospace division. However, his true passion for aviation began much earlier, when he took his first discovery flight at the age of 16. That experience stayed with him throughout the years.
After spending years feeling unfulfilled behind a desk, Christian finally decided to pursue the passion of his youth. He attended flight schools in North Carolina and Florida before a business opportunity brought him back to Phoenix, where he completed his flight training and met Jason.
Recognizing their shared passion, values, and entrepreneurial spirit, Christian and Jason decided to pursue their aviation dreams together. What began as a business plan to purchase an airplane and, as they described it, “sell time on an airplane,” soon developed into something much more meaningful.
Their journey was not without adversity. They initially faced challenges securing support from a bank. Later, another company operating a flight school in California brought them across state lines to explore a potential opportunity. However, Christian and Jason determined that the opportunity did not align with their personal values or standards of integrity.
Rather than allowing the setback to end their dream, they used the experience as the foundation for something better. Deep Sky Flight Training was born from their determination to create a flight school that places affordability, integrity, personal attention, and a genuine passion for aviation at the forefront of every student’s experience.
That commitment begins with Deep Sky Flight Training’s distinctive discovery flight experience. Christian and Jason want each student’s first flight to do more than introduce the technical aspects of aviation—they want it to ignite the same excitement and passion that inspired them to transform their own lives.
Their dedication extends far beyond the cockpit. Christian and Jason support their local Experimental Aircraft Association chapter and generously donate their time to educating young people throughout the community. Whether they are speaking with local Girl Scouts, aspiring young pilots involved with the EAA, or other area youth willing to listen and learn, they are committed to introducing the next generation to the possibilities available through aviation.
Their lives and free time are devoted to the success of their students. Deep Sky Flight Training is not simply a business to Christian and Jason; it is the realization of a shared dream and an opportunity to help others discover their own passion, build confidence, and take flight.
