Jerry Arenas is the owner and operator of Palmer’s Steak House, headquartered in Hartland, Waukesha County, Wisconsin.
Jerry was born and raised in Wisconsin and has carried on the family tradition by allowing his family to experience the Midwest during their formidable years.
Jerry began cooking steaks at the old age of 14 at Rafter’s Steak House in Milwaukee. Besides getting experience as a chef and a weekly paycheck from Rafters, Jerry met the love of his life Marie and the two were married.
Jerry and Marie began owning restaurants starting with The (Original) Steakhouse and then in 1992 opened the Porterhouse. In 2005, Jerry and Marie bought the property and opened Palmer’s Steakhouse. It’s become a wonderful family business as Jerry ensures the kitchen is kicking, Marie ensures the guests are treated to a friendly and warm atmosphere and their son, Tony and his business degree from Marquette, are made known to the public.
Palmer’s has won many awards over the years, including “Milwaukee’s Best Steakhouse” six different years, Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence seven different years and Milwaukee’s Best Wine List.
What is a secret to their success? The owners maintain a presence inside their restaurants. Whether its Jerry, Marie or Tony, a family member is likely to be at the restaurant when guests are present. They take owner “operator” serious!
Business owners take risks and often work long, exhaustive hours to service their clients. There are freedoms in owning a business, but these freedoms come at a cost. Rarely acknowledged are business owners like Jerry Arenas that employ people, accepting accountability ensuring their staff are paid continuously. Sure, people earn their wages through their time, hard work and skills, but let’s take a moment and thank Jerry Arenas for having and continuing the business ownership game that allows people an opportunity to produce and earn those wages.
