Javastop began operations in 1991, and Kurtis purchased the business in 2019, with the goal to maintain the same ’90s-style coffee shop with a comfortable, safe atmosphere. When Kurtis purchased Javastop, he wanted to modernize it a bit while keeping the same local feel. What sets this shop apart from the many other coffee shops in Longmont is the social atmosphere, where people come to interact with each other and build connections. The ingredients in the food and drinks they serve are sourced as locally as possible. Javastop currently has 4 staff, and they are all highly qualified and valued. They participate in the Rise Against Suicide Holiday Star Program, which is a charity focused on providing high quality care to suicidal youth. Javastop also supports local artists by showcasing their work in the shop, and offering them a publicly visible platform from which to sell their pieces. When he isn’t working, Kurtis enjoys partaking in a variety of projects, such as beekeeping, tabletop gaming with his entire staff, and creating his own AI self-automated greenhouse.
