Through personal adversity, significant business challenges, and the determination to honor your late Uncle Mike’s legacy, you have demonstrated remarkable resilience and leadership. Your investments in modernizing the studio, supporting talented artists, developing professional apprenticeship programs, and pursuing a long-term vision to elevate industry standards are a testament to your entrepreneurial spirit. Your dedication to creating opportunities, strengthening the local business community, and building a lasting legacy makes you a deserving champion business owner in Pasco County.

Small businesses are the backbone of an economy.

The owners of these small businesses are entrepreneurs who often take significant financial and business risks, provide employment opportunities, and contribute their creativity, dedication, and ingenuity to the overall commerce of their local communities, towns, cities, and counties. Many business owners work long hours, overcome tremendous challenges, and make personal sacrifices to pursue their dreams while providing valuable products and services to the communities they serve.

Our research team at Expansion Support Services, owners of the County Advisory Board, identified Tip Top Tattoo as a business that is appreciated by its customers and provides valuable professional tattoo and body piercing services to residents of Port Richey and the surrounding Pasco County communities.

Founded in 2014 by Kyle Shinn and his Uncle Mike, Tip Top Tattoo represents a remarkable story of perseverance, personal growth, family legacy, and entrepreneurial vision.

Kyle’s journey into the tattoo and piercing industry began in 2004 when his Uncle Mike introduced him to the profession. By 2007, Kyle had discovered his passion for professional body piercing, beginning a career that would eventually lead him to business ownership.

In 2014, Kyle and his uncle opened Tip Top Tattoo in Port Richey, Florida. While Kyle brought his passion for body piercing and a desire to learn, his uncle contributed the business knowledge and experience necessary to help establish the company’s foundation.

Like many entrepreneurs, Kyle faced obstacles that tested his determination and resilience. In 2021, a serious health crisis resulted in nearly six weeks of hospitalization, causing him to reevaluate his priorities and long-term goals. Then, in early 2023, Kyle experienced the heartbreaking loss of his Uncle Mike, the very person who had introduced him to the industry and helped him build the business.

Rather than allowing these challenges to define his future, Kyle used them as motivation to honor his uncle’s legacy and transform Tip Top Tattoo into something greater.

Beginning in 2025, Kyle embarked on an ambitious transformation of Tip Top Tattoo, investing in a complete studio remodel, professional rebranding, a modern website, expanded marketing, improved customer experiences, and innovative business systems designed to support sustainable growth.

Today, Tip Top Tattoo is much more than a traditional tattoo shop. It is a professionally managed tattoo and body piercing studio built around artistic excellence, customer education, safety, innovation, and respect for every individual who walks through its doors.

One of the company’s distinguishing characteristics is its dedication to connecting customers with talented artists who specialize in different tattoo styles and techniques. Whether customers are interested in traditional tattoos, realism, anime-inspired designs, fine-line artwork, black-and-gray tattoos, or professional body piercings, Tip Top Tattoo strives to match each individual with a qualified professional suited to their vision.

Customer safety, education, and professionalism are central to Kyle’s business philosophy.

With a professional background in body piercing, Kyle has developed a strong interest in anatomy, infection control, bloodborne pathogens, sanitation, and industry education. His commitment extends beyond delivering quality tattoos and piercings to ensuring customers understand proper aftercare and feel confident throughout their experience.

Kyle is also developing structured apprenticeship programs intended to prepare future tattoo artists and body piercers with a stronger foundation in technical skills, safety, professionalism, customer service, and industry knowledge.

His belief is simple: talented artists deserve professional environments that support their success, and customers deserve knowledgeable professionals who prioritize quality and safety.

Tip Top Tattoo has also embraced modern technology to make the customer experience more convenient and accessible.

Through its website, customers can explore the studio’s artists, request appointments, submit deposits online, complete digital consent forms, and purchase gift certificates, jewelry, aftercare products, and merchandise.

These investments demonstrate Kyle’s commitment to combining the personal attention of a locally owned business with the convenience and professionalism customers expect from a modern service provider.

Kyle’s vision extends well beyond operating a successful tattoo studio in Port Richey.

He is working toward developing a future franchise model that would provide talented artists with opportunities to own and operate their own studios while benefiting from established business systems, professional training, educational resources, and consistent standards of customer care.

His long-term ambition is to help elevate professionalism and education throughout the tattoo and body piercing industry while creating new opportunities for artists and entrepreneurs.

The company’s continued growth and transformation speak to Kyle’s dedication, leadership, willingness to embrace calculated risks, and determination to overcome the obstacles that are part of business ownership.

Our research team recognizes that behind every successful small business is an individual willing to invest time, resources, and personal sacrifice into building something meaningful.

Kyle Shinn exemplifies that entrepreneurial spirit.

We take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank Kyle Shinn for the past, present, and future contributions that Tip Top Tattoo and its team have made and will continue to make throughout Pasco County, Florida.

Kyle’s commitment to honoring his uncle’s legacy, supporting talented artists, educating future professionals, and continuously improving the customer experience demonstrates the kind of leadership that strengthens local businesses and communities.
